Well, sorry to tell you but sometimes wishes are only dreams. The hope was that these special-purpose AI apps will be the heroes to save us from the underhanded use of generative AI. I realize that will cause some shock and dismay. Alleged Solution: Develop and make available special-purpose AI apps that can examine any given body of text and determine whether the text was written by a human hand or by a generative AI app.Ĭan such an alleged solution truly and fully be crafted?. ![]() Big Problem: Generative AI such as ChatGPT can generate text and essays seemingly on par with that of being written by human hands, and there are those sneaky souls that are using generative AI to cheat and have AI do their writing for them.Catch those cheating students and other devious souls for having veered into murky waters and the untoward abyss of unethical behaviors by merely turning in AI-generated work as though it is their own work. If generative AI can produce amazingly stellar essays, we ought to harness other AI to detect the sneaky underhanded use of AI that went into it. Presumably, the idea is to fight fire with fire. People are vociferously heralding the arrival of these special-purpose AI apps. All you seemingly need to do is feed any given set of text into these bonus AI apps, and the tool will supposedly tell you whether the text was devised by a human or whether it was devised by an AI app. These special-purpose AI apps are being rushed into the marketplace. The answer proffered by some is that we can use another type of AI to detect when someone tries to pawn off a generative AI-written essay as though it was human-written. No matter what you do, though, it is very difficult to get a score much above 48,000.It’s a big problem and going to get bigger as generative AI becomes more widely available. To maximize your campaign score, 1) never reinforce or upgrade squads on the strategic map, 2) minimize your casualties, 3) maneuver on the strategic map to block German escapes only when really necessary-because each movement in enemy territory costs you more casualties, 4) go for the gold medal in each mission, 5) achieve side-missions (the achievable ones), and 6) drag out missions to build veterancy (goal is vet level 3 for all companies) when you can do so with minimal extra casualities. I’m assuming the player is already familiar with the many bugs, AI cheats, and other design/execution flaws in Ardennes Assault, but in the mission discussions I will note any mission-specific bugs. For Tank Grab, Watchtower, Armored Assault, Houffalize and Stavelot at these levels, expect to take 10-20 casualties at least. Note that difficulty levels 4 and 5 are usually very challenging for most missions. The less experience these companies have, the fewer units they will start with on each mission, so the weaker they will be. In general, all initially available squads, except Fox Co.’s Rangers and Baker’s cav riflemen, cannot fight effectively until they are outfitted with weapons such as BARs, LMGs, or bazookas, and supported by HMGs and AT guns. for the Espeler mission-its paradrops will raise the German alert level and basically blow the mission. One thing you don’t want to do is use Able Co. The remaining missions (Total Domination, Hard Point) don’t seem to favor any particular company. Fox is best for Preservation, Watchtower, Armored Assault, and Railsplitters. In terms of specific missions for which you have a choice, Baker is generally your best bet for Houffalize, Eschdorf, Tank Grab, Stavelot, and Ouren. For the style of campaign described here, your best choices are Baker, Dog, and Fox. ![]() You fight the Ardennes Assault campaign with three companies. Upgrades are like training wheels-you’ll soon find that the campaign is not much of a challenge, even on “Hard” level, if you use them. It should be most useful for players who know the basics, but want to master the campaign, achieving gold medals on every mission and campaign scores >48,000. This guide is for the Ardennes Assault campaign on Hard level.
